From the Natural Fibers to Setesïk’s Heart

Below the shade of a pine in branches my life entwined, our future it can provide a tomorrow that will shine. The bread my table shall adorn, we shall not know any forlorn for a golden leaf has born and hope for our families it’s sworn. I speak of Setesïk, of its leaves and its twigs, but if in your heart you seek hope will be the voice that speaks.

Hello, I'd like to tell you an interesting story, but first let me introduce myself. My name is Pine and I have the great joy of living in a beautiful country with a beautiful weather: The lovely Guatemala! Often called the country of the eternal spring.

You see, when I was merely a seed, a green, red-chested majestic bird brought me to this wonderful place. With time I became a tall and strong tree.

From where I stood I could always see colorful women with colorful dresses coming near me. I often called them rainbow girls.

At first I thought they were looking for a nice shadow to rest below, but then I noticed they were coming for the leaves that often fell from my branches.

I became extremely curious about what they could do with them.

Luckily, my green-feathered friend could soar the skies and always had something new to show and one day he came to me with a beautifully crafted piece of art.

"This is a part of you," he told me.

"Remember the colorful ladies?" He asked.

"They pick up the leaves you don't need anymore and they braid them. Setesïk is what they call themselves."

I was marveled! I've heard terrible stories about people that cut down the ones like me, but these wonderful people only want what I can actually give!

I learned that through Setesïk they could show to the world the real value and effort of their families, not only by producing and selling but by setting a perfect example of how you can become part of the story of a remarkable piece of art.

Setesïk is trying to show the world a place with an extraordinary culture, full of colors, rainbow girls and friendly faces. It's trying to show a land that has plenty to offer to the world.

Now that you know my story, I'd like you to come and visit this beautiful country.

This product in front of your eyes is proof of our ingenuity and love for the earth, maybe you can take some with you back home.

My roots are strong and a bit stubborn, so they won't let me move, but I tell you, you'd love it here! So don't miss the chance to visit this beautiful piece of world I call home and we all proudly name Guatemala, its people and its landscapes!
